TaylorMade Hybrid Technologies

TaylorMade continues to come up with new technologies and inventions every time they release a new hybrid club, and this has made them so good in the market. Some of the most common technologies you will come across in their Hybrid clubs include:

Speed Pocket Technology

TaylorMade utilizes speed pocket technology in their drivers to reduce spin and promote distance in any type of mis-hit.  According to the company, low impact generates too much spin that makes the ball fly too high but land too short. Most of their Rescue Clubs come with a speed pocket redesigned to a smaller size, low white and low-profile head which improves contact with the clubface hence promote an easier launch.

Hammerhead technology

This technology is created by TaylorMade to help create a massive sweet spot that improves ball speed and forgiveness. The club is made with a reinforced outer portion that gives a lighter and flexible face for a massive sweet spot that result in ball speed and forgiveness.

Twist Face Technology

TaylorMade utilizes the twist face technology in most of their current hybrid clubs. This is bulge and roll that has been tilted, rotated and twisted. The reason for doing this is that they found out that most mis-hits occur diagonally from low heel to high toe.

Golfers hit a shot from the toe with a swing from inside out resulting in a low spin pull hook. When the club has a Twists Face, the clubface is more open  around the high toe area hence presenting more loft. This means you’re going to come up with a shot that starts right to the target, launches higher and curves back to the center.

Inverted Cone Technology

This is another important technology that TaylorMade utilizes to give golfers a better experience with their clubs. It is a specific variation of face thickness. The club is constructed with its rear surface having increased thickness that surround the central region.

The central region has a reduced thickness but is more than the thickness at the peripheral area. The club has a face with bending stiffness. This technology ensures better ball speed which results in a great distance.

TaylorMade M2 Hybrid Review

One of the first models to launch was the M2. The TaylorMade Hybrid M2 will give you the longest hit of the year with great response and control.

It comes with a white/black crown with a signature white topline and a glossy black crown. Just like other models from TaylorMade, M2 has medium depth consistent face which is in line with a smaller fairway wood and less hybrid just like the M1 hybrid.

It comes with a solid sound which is less metallic giving you no doubt of whether the ball jumped off the club. If you strike a decent shot, it feels like the ball is flying away in a hurry. It also has a very forgiving face. It comes with a new sole design, geometry and acoustic as well as fluted hosel working together to optimize sound and feel.

Regarding performance, the M2 hybrid is sure to give you an incredible speed with a rising ball speed that comes down at a relatively soft speed. It is easy to control and gives you a bit of roll if you want the flight under some wind.

TaylorMade M4 Hybrid Review

The new TaylorMade M4 hybrid combines the key performance technologies from TaylorMade to produce an incredible ball speed as well as enhance playability. It comes with a larger sweet spot, speed pocket, a split mass and acoustic sole to provide average golfers with the best performance allowing them to enjoy every moment of the game. This is a powerful hybrid that is forgiving and easy to hit.

It comes with a bigger and wider body than the M3 hybrid, but that’s not a problem because it is the perfect choice for golfers who sweep shots of the deck. It has a sleek sole designed to boost speed and forgiveness for shots struck low on the face.

M4 hybrid utilizes Geocoustics, which is a combination of head geometry and acoustic engineering. The long Speed Pocket and the internal weighing contribute to its stability and productivity.

The performance of the hybrid will not disappoint either. Unlike other clubs which requires some time before you can get used to it, the M4 rescue club has no ‘get to know you’ time. You become used to it immediately you get it out of the box since it’s easy to hit. It also provides notable consistency, and you can trust the yardage.

So, if you want a hybrid that will allow you to attack the golf course with confidence, then TaylorMade M4 hybrid is the way to go.

TaylorMade M5 & M6 Hybrid Review

TaylorMade M5 & M6 are designed with a secret called Speed Injected Twist Face to ensure maximum speed. They come with thinner clubface, a larger Hammerhead sole slot, and an internal support foam.

TaylorMade came up with a way to make a club face with more trampoline effect exceeding what’s allowed by the rules of golf. They then inserted a resin behind the face via the ports at the toe and heel. They dialed up the measurements to fall within the required guidelines. This resulted in the fasted and best performing clubs.

The bigger portion of the face is optimized to give faster ball speeds on mis-hits. The M5 & M6 come with low spin characteristics, a face injection process and a more forgiving club for better performance.

TaylorMade M5/M6 looks similar to M3/M4. They come with slightly different shades of silver with new orange accents together with more carbon spanning. The shape is also similar to M5 being pear-shaped and M6 coming with an elongated back.

Both models produce some kind of dead sound and feel. This makes the ball sound hot while coming off the face giving it a powerful feel. These drivers indeed bring together a combination of look and feel with incredible performance.

TaylorMade Aeroburner Hybrid Review

TaylorMade Aeroburner hybrid is designed for golfers who prefer a club that can easily advance the ball a long way. It comes with an aerodynamic design, shallow face and a large Seed Pocket.

The club looks much larger than its counterpart the R15 hybrid and looks fairly bulky from front to back. It has raised stripe in the center of the crown and long alignment aid.

The hybrid feels very light despite sporting a mid-weight of 70 grams. The head is a bit heavy which is ideal for golfers higher swing weight. It feels great in the firm and hand. It produces a sound like a loud crack that informs you if you’ve missed a shot but does not cover small mishits.

On the performance side, it is evident that the TaylorMade Aeroburner hybrid is built for performance giving a high speed and robust across the face. It shows an average launch and spin hence not very easy to elevate and not too difficult either.

What to look for when buying a hybrid (Questions and Answers)

Why should I use Hybrid golf clubs?

Hybrid golf clubs are famous for their versatility and forgiveness. You are given more control over the face thanks to their unique design. They are designed in a way that the gravity is located far back and the face made from a sturdy material. They have an angle that allows you to control the ball elevation and still have great distance. Distance and control are more than enough reasons to choose hybrid clubs.

What should I look for in a good Hybrid club?

There are many hybrids available in the market making it difficult to choose the right one, especially for beginners. Considering their prices, you should take your time to choose the best one so that you don’t run a loss. Here are some of the things you should consider when buying a hybrid club.

Length

The length of the hybrid determines if you’re going to be comfortable using it. Shorter clubs will give you more control over your club while longer ones will ensure you get more distance. Check the length properly and ensure you buy depending on what you want to achieve. Is it distance or control?

Technology

Hybrid club manufacturers are doing all it takes to keep up with the technological trends and provide the best for golfers. You should look for the latest technology in the market plus a few extra features when purchasing your club. If you’re a beginner, you should consider asking someone with experience to help you choose.

Shafts

Hybrid clubs come in two different shafts which include steel shafts and graphite shafts. Steel shafts are less flexible and not the best choice for players with low swing. They are a bit stiff hence decrease ball flight. They, however, allow you to have more control over the shots hence ideal for amateur players.

Graphite shafts, on the other hand, are more flexible and give increased ball flight. They are less stiff and give more powerful swing. However, you have to sacrifice control and are mostly used by pro golfers.
