If you’re looking to by a new fairway wood, I would recommend checking into the TaylorMade M6 Wood. It’s a speed designed fairway club that can add distance and help you reach par 5’s easier.
Below we will share some of the technology built into the M6 wood. If you have a chance to test it on the range it will feel pretty smooth as it makes contact and the sound is not annoying or noticeable.
I recommend taking your new wood you purchase and following these driving range practice routines.

Speed Pocket Slot
Speed pocket
On the sole of the TaylorMade M6, the Speed Pocket slot has been tweaked. As a result, when you connect the ball by the lower portion of the face, you will get superior ball speed. It has also been slightly twisted to ensure the high speeds. The improved slot flexibility provides for a larger COR area and better off-center performance, especially on low-face strikes.
The Speed Pocket contains a new kind of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) that fills the cavity better and sits flush with the sole to prevent too much turf drag through impact. You will also be able to interact with the sole more comfortably because of this. The M4 did not have this TPU fill.
Twist Face Technology
Twist face
Twist Face technology is a groundbreaking face curvature with a corrective face angle on off-center hits for the fairway woods. The purpose of this design is to reduce sidespin and deliver straighter shots. The design was first seen on the M3 and M4 drivers.
For the straighter shots, the head geometry was altered. The loft has increased in the high toe and decreased in the low heel. This is to improve the initial launch direction and consequently controlling the level of spin to keep the ball straighter.
This subsequently made the wood more forgiving, and increased the trajectory.
In addition, a deep face and larger carbon crown provides optimal distance with excellent playability.
Steel Face
The M6 fairway woods features an ultra-high strength C300 steel face insert, to help add ball speed for longer shots.
On the other hand, the face material for the M4 is the Ni-Co C300, which is both stronger and thinner greatly improving the durability and speed.
Head Design
Sleek, elegant design
The TaylorMade M6 Fairway is elegant as well as practical. Its new head design has a slightly deeper face and larger carbon crown that provides optimal distance with excellent playability.
Discretionary mass is concentrated low in the head to optimize the center of gravity while maintaining high MOI.
When the balancing point is positioned to the lower portion of a club, performance is dramatically improved. Hence, the carry distance is longer and hit straighter, ensuring that the ball will fly higher.
The silver front section contrasts with the black face thus making it very easy to line up a hit. In addition, the very low profile design sits flush to the turf.
In comparison to the M4, the M6 has a larger carbon crown. This saves on weight so that the CG is lower and further back in order to launch it higher.
This creates a thinner silver top line at address, which looks more appealing against the matte finish of the carbon crown. On top of that, the TaylorMade logo has been stylishly placed.
The M6 club-head has been remodeled in order to incorporate the twist face technology. The height of the face has undergone augmentation, therefore, making the address profile larger. In comparison to the M4, the M6 has a taller, deeper face, thus more hitting area.
The shape of the sole is a little curvy making it more forgiving as the curvature on heel and toe creates a deeper centre point. This enables it to get under the ball more easily. For this reason, it has a driver-like feeling of the face and rescues poor hits.

Performance
The M6 fairways also revamps on the performance over the M4 by improving on the CG placement, which is directly behind centre face. This therefore produces maximum energy transfer at impact.
Adjustability
Fixed hosel
The M6 will not give you the choice to move some weights in your favored position. However, it comes in a selection of lofts.
The hosel is also fixed.
Nevertheless, the lack of adjustability does hinder the performance much. The sleek shape makes up for this inability.

User-Friendly
You will feel extra confident using the M6. Due to the redesigned address profile with a large crown, this gives you extra hitting area. As opposed to the M4 that is slightly smaller. Furthermore, you can easily get under the ball because of the denser center point.
The speed pocket on the sole also helps to reduce the turf drag. It as well increases the ball speed.
It makes a beautiful sound upon hitting. You will also feel very comfortable, as the face is taller than before.
