100+ Golf Balls Ranked by Spin Rate
In this post, we have dug into the research to find all the different golf ball brands that manufacture balls and tried ranking them by their average spin rate projections.
We broke the lists into 3 categories, a high spin rate list, a medium spin rate list, and a low spin rate list.
Depending on your golf swing, you may play better with a specific type of golf ball and its spin rate to help you get more height on tee shots, or maybe you need a lower tee shot with more roll out.
Start by browsing the lists below and some balls are linked to Amazon if you want to learn more about them!

Should You Play a High Spin or Low Spin Golf Ball?
Choosing the right golf ball is an important decision as it can impact your performance on the golf course. Some players will do better playing a high spin golf ball and other players will perform best with low spin or mid spin golf balls.
How do you know which golf spin rate is best for your game?
How High Do You Hit Your Tee Shots?
Start by analyzing your tee shots. Do you get an optimal launch on the golf ball where the ball is rising at a good height and producing a good result? For most golfers, the farther you can carry the drive in the air, the more distance you’ll get.
If you’re hitting your driver really low, you might consider playing a higher spin rate golf ball. This can help lift your shots higher as the increased in spin rate adds more backspin which is what produces height.
If your driver is hitting tee shots too high that its negatively affecting distance, consider playing a lower spin rate golf ball. This will lower the launch of the shots and it will add more roll when the ball lands, gaining some extra distance.
What Does Your Short Game Need?
Drives are important but you also want to consider your short game. Chipping and putting is where you’re going to gain the most strokes so you should focus on playing a golf ball that fits your short game needs.
If you are a beginner, you will likely play better golf with a lower spin golf ball. As your skills advance you can graduate to using higher spin rate golf balls.
When chipping, if you like to play higher flying, high backspin, quick stop golf chip shots, then you’ll want a high spin golf ball.
If you like to hit low, runner chip shots that get on the green quickly and roll most of the way then consider a ball with less spin.

Golf Ball Flight Laws – How Spin Rate Affects Ball Flight
In this video I’ll share tips on why golf balls fly high, low, left, right, instead of flying straight. Learn how golf ball spin rates impact the flight of the golf ball and how it could be impacting your ability to keep the ball flying straight.
If you have a slice or a hooking golf ball, we cover what type of spin is being put on the golf ball causing it to curve during ball flight.
